Project Title: Combustion and Oxy-Combustion in Biomass-CCS

Background

I recently completed my integrated BEng/MEng in Energy Engineering at Leeds University. Before starting University I worked for a combustion engineering company working on fully automated control systems.

Research Interests

At Leeds University my undergraduate research focused on biomass use in large scale power stations including storage, pre-treatment, combustion characteristics and ash behaviour. This was continued in semester two where I was looking at the fire and explosion risks associated with different types of biomass dust. In the first semester I looked at different possible approaches to technology and future behavioural changes required in the DECC pathways to 2050.

Future Work

My PhD will focus on biomass oxy-fuel combustion and will incorporate potential fire and explosion risks and possible prevention methods.
