Project Title: City Scale Wind Resource Assessment Using a Quasi-Empirical CFD Approach

Background

I completed a BSc (Hons) Environmental Science degree from The University of Manchester, graduating in 2008. I then undertook an MSc in Sustainability (Environmental Consultancy & Project Management) here at The University of Leeds through the School of Earth & Environment. Thereafter I worked as a BREEAM assessor for three of the UK’s largest supermarket chains before joining the DTC in Low Carbon Technologies in 2011.

Research Interests

I am currently looking to develop tools for the assessment of microgeneration potential with a specific focus on the estimation of wind resource in different settings. The research is aimed at improving the accuracy with which estimations of power output are calculated for different types of location. If confidence in renewable electricity generation predictions can be improved, the hope is that there will be greater investment in renewables.
