Project Title: The Role of Storage and Demand-Side Management in the Grid Integration of Electricity from Low-Carbon Sources

Background

I graduated in 2010 from the University of Bath with a BSc in Natural Sciences. During the final year of the programme I became interested in climate change mitigation and I started an MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Engineering at the University of Surrey in the same year. My MSc focused on UK policy and biofuels and I was involved in the set up and early operations of an algal photobioreactor.

Research Interests

I am interested in how energy policy can promote the incorporation of low-carbon electricity generation on the grid, the role of storage and how consumers will interact with new technologies such as smart meters. I have recently completed a mini-project comparing potential future electricity generating systems in scenarios produced by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and those of the Transition Pathways study.
